How do I set the timer on the transformer?

The HUB-50 and HUB-100 are equipped with touch operation for setting the timer. The SMART HUB-150 timer can only be set using the in-lite app (available for iOS and Android). See the transformer manual for more information.

How do I connect the cable to the transformer?

The HUB-50/100 is equipped with two easy click connections. Strip a few cm from one end of the cable and place two cable ends next to each other. Strip around 8 mm from both cable ends using a cable stripper. Next, twist together the copper wires so that there are no loose wires. Click the Easy-Connect clip for the cable entry open and place one cable end in the entry. Secure the cable by pushing down the Easy-Connect clip and pull slightly on the cable to check whether it is securely in place. Do the same with the other cable end. If desired, you can connect a second cable to the transformer. Both cables will be controlled jointly by the transformer. The SMART HUB-50/100 is equipped with three easy click connections. If desired, you can connect a second and/or third cable to the transformer. The cables can be controlled separately using the in-lite app. See the manual for detailed instructions. To connect the cable to a CB type transformer, you will need to use cable lugs, which come with this type of transformer. Important: Did you buy an in-lite cable with cable lugs and want to connect the cable to the HUB-50/100 or SMART HUB-150? Cut off the cable lugs entirely and strip the cable as described above or see the manual for the transformer.

Can two cables fit in one connection?

The HUB-50/100 transformers have two cable outlets, each of which is used for one ground cable, while both are controlled jointly. The SMART HUB-150 has three cable outlets that can be controlled separately using the in-lite app. It is not possible to attach two cables to one outlet. If desired, a CC-2 cable connector can be used to create branches on the main line. A cable plan is essential when installing the ground cable. Read more about this in our blog. The CB transformers have one cable outlet and it is not possible to connect two cables to it.

How many VA is the transformer?

The maximum capacity of the HUB-50 is 50 VA. The HUB-100 can handle up to 100 VA, while the SMART HUB-150 can be used for a maximum of 150 VA in lighting. You can determine the appropriate (number of) transformers by adding up all the VA values of the lighting in the yard. The VA value of each fixture can be found on the packaging and in the installation manual for that fixture. Read more about this in our blog.

How many watts is the transformer?

The output of the transformer is indicated in VA instead of watts (W) because this corresponds to the VA indication of our lighting. See the transformer manual for more information.

How many lights can be connected to the transformer?

The number of lights depends on the total installation value (VA) of the lighting you wish to connect. You can connect up to 50 or 100 VA in fixtures to the HUB-50/100, respectively, while the SMART HUB-150 can power up to 150 VA in fixtures. Important: The BIG NERO (NARROW) is an exception, as a maximum of four, seven and nine BIG NERO (NARROW) can be connected to the HUB-50, HUB-100 and SMART HUB-150, respectively, divided over two or three cable outlets. The BIG NERO (NARROW) can only be connected to a 10/2 cable with a maximum length of 40 meters. More information can be found on the page with installation tips or in our blog on the cable plan.

Can I also install the transformer outdoors?

We emphasize that all HUB transformers must always be mounted in a covered space that is not exposed to rain or snowfall and at a minimum height of 50 cm above the ground. If this is not possible, use a (SMART) HUB PROTECTOR. Following all instructions correctly will contribute to an even longer service life of the products that come with a five-year warranty.

Can the cables be switched on separately?

The HUB-50/100 transformers have two cable outlets, each of which is used for one ground cable and can only be controlled jointly. The SMART HUB-150 has three cable outlets that can be operated separately using the in-lite app (available for iOS and Android). A CC-2 cable connected can be used if desired to create branches on the main cable. A cable plan is essential when installing the ground cable. Read more about this in our blog.

What labels does the transformer carry?

The HUB-50/100 have been tested and approved by the TÜV and (C)UL for all applicable requirements and for use in Europe, Canada and the U.S. The SMART HUB-150 is tested and certified by the TÜV, (C)UL and KIWA for all applicable requirements and for use in Europe (CE), Canada (ISED) and the U.S. (FCC).

How do you reset the transformer?

It is only necessary in exceptional cases to reset the transformer. To reset the HUB-50/100, it must be switched off completely. If this does not solve the problem, remove the plug from the outlet and plug it in again after around 10 seconds. This type of transformer does not have a separate reset button. You reset the SMART HUB-150 by holding in the button on the right side (for at least 15 seconds) until the button starts flashing blue.

Can you use multiple transformers in one yard?

in-lite transformers can be combined. The SPLITTER can be used to connect one light sensor to multiple transformers and all lights will then switch on at the same time. Note: It is not possible to connect a single light sensor if you want to use the HUB transformer together with a CB transformer. The SMART HUB-150 transformers do not have a light sensor, but use an astronomical clock. If you want to use both the SMART HUB-150 and a HUB-50/100 transformer in your yard, you will need to operate the HUB-50/100 using the touch panel on the transformer.

What is the maximum VA load for each of the cable outlets on the transformer?

You can load the Hub-50 with a maximum of 50 VA in total. The distribution over the two cables does not have to be proportional. The Hub-100 can be loaded with a maximum of 100 VA in total. The distribution over the two cables does not have to be proportional. The Smart Hub-150 can be loaded with a total maximum of 150 VA. The distribution over the three cables does not have to be proportional. Please note that you can connect a maximum of 100VA to 1 cable. You can then connect a further 50 VA to the other two cables.

Does the transformer produce alternating current or direct current?

Alternating current

What is the consumption of the transformer when idle?

The HUB-50/100 uses around 1.5 W when in idle status (lighting is switched off). Sample calculation: If the lighting is switched on for 3 hours a day, the transformer will be in idle status for 21 hours a day. This corresponds to 12 kW per year. With an energy price of €0.25/kWh, the total annual energy cost will be €3. The SMART HUB-150 uses around 3 W when in idle status (lighting is switched off). Sample calculation: If the lighting is switched on for three hours a day, the transformer will be in idle status for 21 hours a day. This corresponds to 23 kW per year. With an energy price of €0.25/kWh, the total annual energy cost will be €5.75.

Does the lighting need to be distributed evenly among the cable outlets?

It is not necessary to evenly distribute the capacity of the lighting. Limit the capacity to no more than 100 VA per cable outlet.

Can I connect a different type of cable to the different cable outlets?

A different cable (14/2 or 10/2 cable) can be connected to every output (connection) on the transformer.

What is the total distance in meters of the connection to the SMART HUB-150?

The SMART HUB-150 is controlled with your smartphone or tablet at a distance of up to tens of meters. Subsequent SMART 150-HUBs may enable a larger distance between the SMART HUBs of several hundred meters.

Does the SMART HUB-150 work with Wi-Fi?

The transformer connects to your smartphone or tablet using Bluetooth Low Energy.

What kind of smartphone or tablet do you need to operate the SMART HUB-150?

The minimum required version for iOS devices is iOS 11.0. The minimum required version for Android devices is Android 5.0.

Can multiple SMART HUB-150 transformers be controlled with one app?
