What is the maximum cable length?
We have two types of cables in our product range, the 14/2 and the 10/2. The 14/2 cable is used for linear installation with a maximum cable length of 40 meters. The 10/2 cable is used for linear installation with a maximum cable length of 80 meters. To determine whether you have exceeded the maximum cable length, calculate the length from the transformer to the end of the cable. This also applies to any branches. Each cable end may not be any further than 40 or 80 meters from the transformer. All values apply to a single cable outlet.
How do I connect the cable to the transformer?
The HUB-50/100 is equipped with two easy click connections. Strip a few cm from one end of the cable and place two cable ends next to each other. Strip around 8 mm from both cable ends using a cable stripper. Next, twist together the copper wires so that there are no loose wires. Click the Easy-Connect clip for the cable entry open and place one cable end in the entry. Secure the cable by pushing down the Easy-Connect clip and pull slightly on the cable to check whether it is securely in place. Do the same with the other cable end. If desired, you can connect a second cable to the transformer. Both cables will be controlled jointly by the transformer. The SMART HUB-50/100 is equipped with three easy click connections. If desired, you can connect a second and/or third cable to the transformer. The cables can be controlled separately using the in-lite app.
What is the difference between the 14/2 and 10/2 cable?
There are two types of cables in the product range, the 14/2 and the 10/2. The numbers indicate the thickness from the copper inside the cable. The 10/2 cable contains more copper than the 14/2 cable, which is almost impossible to see from the outside. A cable with a higher quantity of copper makes it possible to install fixtures over a longer distance. That is why the 14/2 cable enables a maximum cable length (with linear installation) of 40 meters, while the 10/2 cable enables a maximum cable length (with linear installation) of 80 meters. Want to learn more about the linear installation of the cable? See our blog on cables.
How do I connect the lighting to the 12 volt cable?
in-light lighting is connected to the cable using the in-lite Easy-Lock and mini-connector. The Installation Tips page contains a number of useful videos on how to connect our system. For specific installation instructions, see the installation advice and manual for the product concerned.
I've accidentally cut my fixture cable. Can I fix it?
Absolutely. Use the WATERLOCK accessory. The WATERLOCK lets you repair cut fixture cables. To fix the cable, perform the following steps: 1. First make sure that the power supply to the cable is switched off. 2. Use small 4/6 mm² screw terminals no larger than 18 mm x 12 mm x 16 mm. 3. Cut the cable to size using cable cutters or a wire stripper. Is the cable damaged? Cut past the damaged section. 4. Use a fitting screwdriver to loosen the screws on one side of the screw terminal. 5. Insert the copper cable wire on one side of the screw terminal. 6. When connecting, make sure the entire copper wire is inside the screw terminal, so that only the plastic casing is visible. 7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 for the other cable. Important: Connect the right colors of the screw terminal together. 8. Tighten the screws again. 9. Place the screw terminal in the middle of the WATERLOCK. It is filled with gel to ensure a 100% waterproof connection. 10. Close the WATERLOCK securely, making sure you hear a “click”. Important: The WATERLOCK cannot be used to repair in-lite main cables (CBL 14/2 and CBL 10/2).
What is a branch?
A CC-2 cable connector lets you attach a second cable to the first cable. It can be added to the end of the first cable, but can also be attached halfway along the cable to let you reach a different area of your yard. Always keep in mind the maximum cable lengths. Only create a branch using the same type of cable.
Can I use a use a loop system, with one end in port 1 and the other in port 2?
No, this is not a good idea. This will cause a system failure. The cables may only be installed linearly, though you can always create branches in the cable.
How many lights can be connected to the transformer?
The number of lights depends on the total installation value (VA) of the lighting you wish to connect. You can connect up to 50 or 100 VA in fixtures to the HUB-50/100, respectively, while the SMART HUB-150 can power up to 150 VA in fixtures. Important: The BIG NERO (NARROW) is an exception, as a maximum of four, seven and nine BIG NERO (NARROW) can be connected to the HUB-50, HUB-100 and SMART HUB-150, respectively, divided over two or three cable outlets. The BIG NERO (NARROW) can only be connected to a 10/2 cable with a maximum length of 40 meters.
What do I do if a single outdoor light is not working?
Check whether the lighting is connected properly to the cable. See the Installation Tips page, the installation advice for our products and the product manual. Test the Easy-Lock by replacing it with another (properly functioning) light. Still not working? Contact your landscaper or the dealer who sold you the product. They can also provide a new Easy-Lock.
I accidentally punctured the ground cable. What should I do?
The main cable or a branch has been punctured. If the main cable or a branch has been punctured, it is advisable to cut the cable completely. Depending on the situation, you can either reconnect the two cable ends using a cable connector (CC-2) or place an extra piece of cable using two cable connectors. Remember to always check the total output after a cable break. After installing one cable connector, the fixtures can handle a maximum of 50 VA. If you have connected more than 50 VA of fixtures, use an extra cable connector. When using two cable connectors, the maximum limit is 100 VA of lighting. Add cable caps to the ends for a tidy finish.

A number of our ground lights can be used in, for example, a driveway. See the selection of drive-over grong lights in our product overview.
How do I make a cable plan?
Our blog provides instructions on making a cable plan.
The lighting stays on longer than set in the transformer.
Install the transformer light sensor in a location that is not influenced by artificial lighting, such as street lighting and car lights. Also see our Installation Tips page.
Are the in-lite outdoor lights waterproof?
All in-lite fixtures are suitable for outdoor use. Fixtures with LED light sources are waterproof (also see the IP values for our products), but are not designed to be used permanently under water. Use our underwater spotlight instead.
My lighting is blinking. How can I fix this?
There are several possible reasons why your lighting is blinking, either in full or in part. A single light is blinking. All links are blinking. If all connected lights are blinking, the transformer is most probably not receiving enough power. Insert the transformer plug into a different outlet (on a different breaker) and see if this helps. If not, remove the transformer plug from the socket and check whether the cable is connected to the transformer correctly. Depending on the type of transformer, watch the relevant installation video for connecting the cables. The lighting from a branch is blinking. If the lighting from a branch in the cable is blinking, the problem is most likely the cable connector (CC-2) that connects the branch to the main cable. Remove the CC-2, clean it thoroughly and reattach the cable connector to the cable. If this does not solve the problem, replace the CC-2 with a new cable connector. You can purchase the CC-2 from your in-lite dealer. Need advice or still have a problem? Contact your in-lite dealer or our Customer Service Department.
What is the guaranteed number of operational hours of my LED fixture?
in-lite offers a five-year warranty on all fixtures. We do not guarantee operational hours. However, the manufacturer of the LED light sources used in our fixtures provides an indication of the service life of its light sources. This indication is 25,000 operational hours and is based on an ideal situation without any form of possible influences. Consequently, this cannot be compared to the actual circumstances under which a fixture with the LED light source is used. Factors such as weather, incorrect installation and alternating currents in the power supply can have a negative impact on the number of operational hours. More information on our warranty policy can be found on the Warranty & Repairs page.
Is in-lite lighting dimmable?
It is not possible to dim 12 V lighting connected to the transformer. There are a few 230V wall lights and SMART light in the range that are dimmable. To choose the right dimmer, see the product page for the wall light concerned.

Transformer
How do I install the transformer?
The 'system' page contains all necessary information on installing our transformers. Select the relevant transformer and download the manual for more information. We emphasize that all HUB transformers must always be mounted in a covered space that is not exposed to rain or snowfall. If this is not possible, use a (SMART) HUB PROTECTOR. Following all instructions correctly will contribute to an even longer service life of the products that come with a five-year warranty.
How many VA is the transformer?
The maximum capacity of the HUB-50 is 50 VA. The HUB-100 can handle up to 100 VA, while the SMART HUB-150 can be used for a maximum of 150 VA in lighting. You can determine the appropriate (number of) transformers by adding up all the VA values of the lighting in the yard. The VA value of each fixture can be found on the packaging and in the installation manual for that fixture.
How many watts is the transformer?
The output of the transformer is indicated in VA instead of watts (W) because this corresponds to the VA indication of our lighting. See the transformer manual for more information.
Can I also install the transformer outdoors?
We emphasize that all HUB transformers must always be mounted in a covered space that is not exposed to rain or snowfall and at a minimum height of 50 cm above the ground. If this is not possible, use a (SMART) HUB PROTECTOR. Following all instructions correctly will contribute to an even longer service life of the products that come with a five-year warranty.
How do you reset the transformer?
It is only necessary in exceptional cases to reset the transformer. To reset the HUB-50/100, it must be switched off completely. If this does not solve the problem, remove the plug from the outlet and plug it in again after around 10 seconds. This type of transformer does not have a separate reset button. You reset the SMART HUB-150 by holding in the button on the right side (for at least 15 seconds) until the button starts flashing blue.
